ART PSYCHOTHERAPY
Art Psychotherapy is a form of psychotherapy that involves the use of various art media as a creative way of expression. It helps healing and mental well-being.
There is no need to be skilled at art to do art therapy. The final work is not going to be judged or interpreted by the art therapist.
The focus is on the art process and the feelings that emerge.
Art Psychotherapy gives a safe space for children or adults to explore and to work through their difficulties. Verbal and creative work helps them to express their worries, make sense of difficult emotions and find coping skills to manage overwhelming feelings; or daily life in the classroom, at home or in society.
It develops self- awareness, helps coping with stress, boosts self-esteem and fosters social interactions.
"Whenever there is tension, it needs attention"
Dr Gabor Maté
A felt sense goes beyond words in the process of feeling better.
